She smiled back, remembering her own first experiences with her gifts. She remembered the crowded store, when she had first asked her mom why the man in the line behind them was worried about gas. At the age of three, she had innocently asked,' Does he have a tummy ache?'

Her mom had simply turned away from the mom and crammed a cracker in her mouth. It wasn't until later that she finally understood why.

After his exercises Zach returned to the campus to play some mutant volleyball with the other students. This version of volleyball allowed students to use their powers as long they didn't destroy the ball or each other, Zach was in the front row in a team of 6 as a brawny junior boy on Zach's team was prepared to serve the ball, Zach knew him as Greg. Greg held the ball in front of him as he hit it with his fist from under neath sending the ball flying into the atmosphere.

It was very hard to see the ball until it started to fall back to earth at 90 mph. A skinny kid on the other team positioned him self under the ball and held out his arms in an empty hug. The skin from each arm stretched from one arm to the other forming a skin trampoline as the ball sunk right into the elastic skin then bounced up into the air for someone else to get it.

A blur seemed to come out of no were as a girl raced to set the ball up at light speed, as the ball flew high enough over the net the elastic kid stretched his arm to chase it as his hand turned into a rubber hammer and spiked the ball into Zach's side of the court.

A senior next to Zach quickly turned his arm into solid steel as he intercepts the spike with a low dig and the ball is hit to Zach. He bumped the ball up high then held out his hand and his used his powers to lift Greg and tossed him after the ball. Greg was first surprised when he started to lift off the ground but as soon as he realized what was happening he let out a big grin. Greg was soon in arms length of the ball , as soon as the ball was at Greg's chest he pulled his right arm back and clenched his fist as he punched the ball as hard as he could back to earth.

The opposite team hesitated for a minute then dove for cover as the volleyball was turned into a cannon ball as it made contact into the soft sand, leaving a 3 foot crater. The ball was destroyed on impact as shreds of the ball was spread all over the crater. Greg landed soon after and a tremor knocked everyone off balance. Zach came up to him and patted his back with a grin. "We are playing volleyball, not dodge ball, pinhead" He chuckled with his childhood friend.

Greg looked at him with a grin, "I guess I could have eased off a little" he gloated. "And it is almost dinner time and i want to be the first in line."

Zach snickered "You're one of a kind Greg" he said as they both headed inside to the dorms.

Jason left the hospital an hour ago and just began to walk around the place. He tried to forget the day's events. As big as the house was he probably wouldn't be able to see Ivy again anyway until a long time from now. She was probably alright wherever she is.

Jason continued to walk until he grew tired. This could be a new time to use his more controlled power. The power to control nature. Jason always loved nature and cherished it like his brother. He respected plants and the earth in general. "Tree hugger" was something he would be proud to be called.

It was getting dark out and Jason could see the stars. He thought of an idea and put it into action. Using both his hands he gently moved his fingers around in an awkward motion. Soon a large tree started to sprout from the ground. He swayed and angled the tree so it was straight and became an apple tree. He smiled to himself as he stretched out the branches, making sure one branch was bigger than the rest. It was where he would sit to watch the stars tonight. He climbed onto the branch as the night began to fall. He was used to watching stars by himself, but even so, the noises of the people inside the house made him feel like he had company.

Ivory was roaming the halls an hour or two after her conversation with Micheal. She had a check list in her hands, connected to a clip board as she made her way to the Danger Room (totally stole that) for an inspection.

According to the professors wishes, she was dressed in her uniform. It was of her own creative design. She had refused multiple times to look exactly the same as everyone in the institute. Of course, this had led to them all needing their own unique outfits, and soon, they had become very diverse. She liked it that way.

Still, she was a little suspicious of the Professors wishes. She wouldnt really need the uniform unless she would be needing to move and use her powers to a long extent. It wouldnt exactly be shocking if she ended up doing her own personal excercise.

On her way there, she lifted her head in time to see a familiar face. Zach.

The embers inside her stomach shifted a little uneasily. Her teeth went to her bottom lip instinctively. His rudeness earlier had left her a little off gaurd. Most people weren't so head strong without a reason. She wasn't sure if she was angry or nervous. She didnt know why she should feel the latter.

Zach walked down the hall with Greg talking as they neared a three way intersection. They both laughed at a last minute joke as the part ways. Zach brushed his hair with his hand then looked up to see the girl that was with Mike earlier. "Hey there hot stuff" he punned as he gave a small wave.

She froze at the words, and before she could really even process them, her cheeks had turned a bright shade of scarlet. She could feel the embers, which had been only stirring before, now threatening to burst. Again, anger and nervousness were wretchedly mixed, mingled in some confusing pattern.

Her lips parted, she guessed she needed to say something, but the only thing that wanted to come out was, "Uh.." She noted without even meaning to that it came across a little sarcastically, as if she were mad or offended. Maybe she was. She couldn't actually tell.

Zach paused for a moment looking at her then smirked. "Cat got your tongue or are you going to let your mind talk for you?" he said as he sensed Ivory's emotions with his telepathy.

She felt her cheeks only redden more. Now, she was a little angry. With slightly narrowed eyes, she retaliated through thought. She sent the words out, using her own gift to communicate to him.

Stay out of my mind.

By the look of your face anyone else can tell that there are a thousand thought going through your head

he answered mentally back. "Were are you off to..." he paused for a moment to take one last peek into the girls mind. "Ivory?"

Ivory watched him intently for a moment. She wasn't sure if she wanted to have him tagging along, if thats why he was asking. At the same time, she wasn't sure she wanted to watch him go. It was a complex emotion.

She found herself calming the embers in her stomach, whether from anger, or something else, she still was unsure.

"The Danger Room." she said aloud, almost as a challenge. "Im supposed to go in for an..'inspection.'

Ivory shifted, sliding her weight to one leg and folding her arms in front of her chest. The clip board rested between her arms and herself, hugged closely to her body as she met eyes with this testy boy. He was so frustrating, but at the same time, knowing. It was the telepathy, she knew. Still..it was frustrating.

"I think it might be too much for you to handle." she retaliated, turning her body in the direction of the room, but still motionless. "I wouldn't want you to get hurt." Badly. She kept that last part to herself.

Its a date

he told her mentally in a mocking tone. He went to his room to change and to grab three marbles. Like the paper air planes he plays with these marbles with his powers whenever he was bored. He might need it for this girl's performance, he walked out and found a spot in the observation booth were he waited to see tonights show.

She was checking a laser, one of a particularly high power, his mental words still running through her head when the real 'inspection' began.

She was alerted with a faint whirring sound. It was the sound of machinery coming to life. Her head turned in the direction slowly, and in moments, her eyes took in the site of another laser, this one glowing with energy as it charged.

Ivory's eyes darted to her right, and she took this direction with only a seconds consideration. It was all she had. She dove head first, resulting in a tumble as the laser went off. By the time she got to her feet, another whirring sound was being produced, somewhere to her left. Again, she dodged.

Too bad this is only a warm up...

Zach watched the girl dodge some lasers, it was nothing special, everyone in his senior class can dodge lasers in their sleep. He held up his marbles and with his mind he made them orbit around each other along with other ticks.

Ivory released a breath, crouched behind a metalic wall, and the sound came out as a sigh. The lasers, of course, were pretty basic, but when they started you off with something basic, they would always hit you hard and try to make it by surprise. They were trying to fool her mind. She wasn't sure if she was too excited for what came next.

In moments, she knew she shouldnt have been.

The room began to blacken, slowly. It got darker and darker until there was nothing but black. Blindess. She came out of her crouch, glancing around for some sign of light and failed. It was also eerily silent.

Then, the whirring began. She jumped, kicking from a wall and neerly missing a metal beam that had been close to taking her legs. Again, she kicked off of this, missing yet another. The step was repeated, until she found herself near a window ledge.

Those were a little too close.

Her mind told no lie. She hadn't been hit, but a few felt like they came pretty close. She knew it was the darkness.

Darkness.
She suddenly smiled. What better to combat darkness than a little light?

With the whirring of another laser, her whole body suddenly ignited in a brilliant white fire, and in seconds, she had kicked herself from the ledge, free falling until her feet hit a beem that had suddenly come to motion. She back kicked, flipping and nearly missing one that had been aimed at her head. She came down on her tip toes. There were spikes lining the floor, and these only became visible when her fire neared them. She couldnt help but feel releif at the fact that her toes had been perfectly matched with two points.

Thank God for steal toes.

Zach saw the girl somersault while being lit up like a match. It reminded Zach of the circus, but other wise he was still unimpressed. He looked at the professor who did nothing but observe the girl. What do you see in her? he thought to himself.

With her toes on the points, she abruptly felt another change. Cold.

The temperature in the room seemed to be changing, and not for her benefit. In seconds, the room went from a normal, warm temperature, to freezing cold. Another thing that happened, rain fell. Or something like rain. A small hint of light was let back in and the danger room was something like an overcast day.

Her fire faded.

Like a match, she was extinguished. Her brilliant white fire, like starlight, died in favor of a storm.

She turned her eyes up to the observation deck where she was sure the professor was watching. What would he send now?

Her question was soon answered when a flood of needles, all thin and razor shot flew her way out of no where. She jumped, on instinct into the air. It wasn't until she had flipped her body in a barrel roll that she realized the floor was covered in spikes. It hadnt just been her area. A heel into the ground and she would be done.

She came down on her toes lightly. For a moment, she wondered if the rain would make her slip. To her luck, she had enough balance to stay on her toes. Again, the needles came, from several directions this time and she propelled herself further from the ground. Her eyes darted around her surroundings, and instead of landing back on the spikes, she flipped her body again, propelling it instead towards a beam. Her hand grasped the beam, nearly slipping as she swung over the top like some trapeze artist and caught herself again a wall. It was cold to the touch. She recoiled on instinct and decided to keep in motion.

She climbed, higher into the top of the Danger room until she had a full view of the ground. it was a mess of needles. They had begun flying from every direction possible. Needles, water, spikes, and cold. She wasn't thrilled.

Her stopping point was in front of the observation deck, and peeking in, she snuck a quick smirk at her Professor whom she knew might get a kick out of the next stunt she was going to pull. Her smiled back, and pressing a button, he put the claw into play.

The claw was possibly one of the biggest weapon in the Danger Room, and one she had only had the opportunity to face once. It was, in essence, a large, metal claw, but it was loaded. One of its extended fingers held an automatic. Another was razor edged. She went through the list of features in her head, wondering what exactly he would set on her.

She didnt have to wonder long. The claw turned, its center facing upward in her direction. The center was one of her personal favorites. It released small explosions.

She smiled, and turning to her professor gave him a wave. He was having fun with this game.

Then, she was in motion. Her feet took off, using her leg power to run along the wall when the first explosion fired. It went off inches behind her.
Her next move was to dive from the wall and into the sea of needles and spikes. The explosions followed her, sensing her heat and sending little bombs at the wall behind her. When she met the body of the Danger Room once more, she caught a beam that had been set in motion. It was swinging from one side of the room, to the next, and her timing couldnt have been more perfect.

She caught on with her arms, sliding herself around to plant her feet on the slippery metal. She dashed along, realizing what her objective would have to be. The claw.

From the edge of the beam, she jumped to the next moving pole, making it just as an explosion ripped through the body of the last. She jumped again, landing herself on the head of a laser and flitting away again before it had the chance to fire beneath her.

She smiled as she landed against another moving beam. The heat from the lazer still dwelled in her hands, but she knew it wouldnt for long.

Flipping from the pole and onto the ground, she hit the spikes on her toes, skipping across the little maze of points to the base of claw. It turned as her head approached. She could already feel the embers stirring in her stomach, lighting up the fire. Hitting the floor quickly, she wrapped her hands around a few metal points, avoiding an onslaught of needles and another loud explosion.

She sighed with exhiliration as the heat of the bomb grazed over her skin, fanning her flames. Her skin was suddenly on fire again, and she pushed herself up, catching another beam and straddling it as rode in a circular movement past the claw. With one deep breath, she held out her hands and sent a blaze of fire towards the center, twisting her body to keep the pressure until at last, the claw admitted defeat.

She only realized this when the beam stopped, and the claw, closing in on itself pulled back into the floor that was quickly de-spiking itself.

The professor turned his head, answering with a small smile on his lips. "Maybe you should see for yourself."

-

With a small shiver, Ivory kicked her leg over the beam, landing on the solid, but soaked floor. She glanced up to the observation deck and smiled. The expression was aimed to the professor. She couldnt help but hope she had made him proud.

Wrapping her arms around her body, she turned away from the various weapons and to the solid metal doors, waiting as they opened to let her out of the freezing cold. She could see her breath in here. She shivered again and left the room behind, stepping out and into the hall to await the Professors judgment.

The Professor raised an eyebrow, muttering a simple, "Mhmm", as if in thought before he stood, and walked towards the door of the observation deck. "She's grown."

With this he turned towards the door and made an exit, heading down to meet Ivory in the hall where she stood, still dripping and freezing from the rain.

Her arms tightened around her body as the smile broke across his face. She could feel the embers churn and it brought a scarlet color to her cheeks. Silently, she cursed him for it.

"It was...a little wet." She replied, her tone just a little shaky. For a brief moment, she regretting looking like a rat with him watching. She was grateful that the moment was brief.

Her eyes shifted to the Professor when he began to speak. She was thankful for the distraction from her red cheeks.
"Very nice, Ivory. You came out without a scratch." He smiled at this, obviously glad to give the good news. "You do happen to be soaked, however..."

She glanced down at herself, another small shiver raking its way up her spine. "It was a little rainy..."

He smiled and nodded, "Make sure you get cleaned up," having said this, he moved to make his exit, leaving her in the hall. "Oh and, by the way," he said as he turned his head back in her direction, "I would like you to give Zach a small demonstration of your fighting style in the morning. He seemed a little curious."

Her eyes widened slightly at this, and he simply smiled, turning and leaving them both behind.

Zach held up his and and the water that soaked Ivory formed into orbs of water as they detached from her skin and clothing, the orbs of water then dropped to the floor in a splash leaving Ivory dry. "This is a joke right? There is no way that she is a match for me?" he protested. "And I have school, I cant miss that for a match"
