Supernatural

She heard the thought in perfect clarity with their eyes connected. But still, she could hear the difference between a thought, and a voice. She could feel her intent. Ally knew, or was trying to find out. Biting her lip, she debated whether or not she needed to know. She decided against it, and instead, raised her eyebrow at the girl, as if completely puzzled. "Uhm..What was that?" she said, her tone matching her expression. She reached up and casucally pulled the towel from ther now dry, black strands of hair, waiting for a response.

Allison repeated herself actually speaking this time, but she had got the information she needed. She would have been surprised if Iris had actually fallen for it. She did get the signs she needed such as her biting her lip and her hesitation to what she was saying or rather thinking. Someone would have given her a look like she was crazy. Iris didn't. Her eyes also showed her recognition. Her eyes gave it all away. What was unfortunate now was that Iris knew that she knew about the supernatural and paranormal. The game now was who was going to give up what information. Dispersing from the situation Allison went to grab her phone. She sent a quick text to Logan saying that she was done with her test and that he could come back up in five minutes.

Iris, too felt that a kind of game had begun. While looking straight into her eyes, with great concentration, she could have read her every thought, her motives, her feelings, and even bent them. Her power was strong when she was focused. But standing here, without really taking the time to listen, to see, it was like looking through a foggy window. She would only understand a few feelings, emotions or thoughts. Nothing perfectly accurate, but this one was strong. Ally knew.

Ally waited for Logan to return up to the motel as she sat on the usual spot on the bed finishing reading a magazine. She had already read them, but again she was bored. In the back of her subconscious mind where it would be hard for any mind wanderers to reach she thought about blocking her thoughts. She and Iris would be playing at an unfair advantage. She could feel others motives and intents and their feelings and in a sense it was like walking out from a hot tub into cold water depending on someone's moods. It often made her sick to the stomach when there were too many feelings and thoughts. She couldn't stand someone who was bipolar. That just about drove her crazy. Then again, in the back of her mind she also had the thought that it wouldn't be satisfactory for Iris to just read her mind. She wanted Allison to slip up and reveal information herself.

Logan waited outside for a few moments. He got a text from Ally. Logan pushed himself off the hood and walked up to the door and knocked the same pattern as before.

Allison opened the door for her brother and gave him a look that clearly stated the results of her little tests. She turned back to Iris and called out for her.

"Hey, your toothbrush is here."

She left the door open for Logan and returned to her usual spot on her bed. She rummaged through a few magazines until she found on that had a smoking ad on it that said "Think, Just say no." She folded back the page of the magazine and began to read the inside of it with the ad on the outside facing her brother. She couldn't out right tell him about the whole situation and so she hoped that he would at least get the message.

Logan gave Iris the toothbrush, then sat on his bed. Logan glanced over at Ally and looked up at the ceiling. Logan thought back to what he was going to Ally before she left. Logan had read something about a group of mutilated campers, one was missing. Logan thought it could just be bears, but that doesn't explain the whole situation. Logan simply said, "Wendigo."

Allison picked up on the message but made no change of expression as she changed the page of the magazine. "Lovely..." she mumbled. Inside she was actually really excited. She might actually be able to get some action for once. The problem was with Iris though. Allison knew she wasn't quite 100% normal as she seemed, but she still couldn't let their secret go before Iris shared hers.

"So we are going camping? Do you think we should check with Bobby first? He might want to let us borrow some camping supplies."

"Perhaps, we mostly just need his silver pots." 'Silver pots' meaning silver bullets. Logan looked over at Ally, with his hands under his head, "and be sure to tell him that I ran into the family at the gas station. They couldn't visit, I guess they were wrapped up in something."

Allison grinned and held back a laugh with a small giggle and then the effect of what happened to the people settled in. They are better off dead than with the effects of living after being possessed by a demon anyways. She tried to tell herself this to cover up the fact that by their hands more humans were dead. That was the point of what they were doing, to not let others get killed among not letting demons turn their home into a literal hell hole. She sighed and then mumbled something along the lines of, "So when are we leaving?"

"As soon as possible," Logan glanced at the bathroom, where Iris was brushing her teeth. Logan leaned over to Ally, and barely whispered, "One of the campers has gone missing. If we are dealing with a Wendigo, it'll probably store him for a few days till its hungry again." Logan pushed himself back onto his bed and stared at the ceiling.

"Well how much room do we have? Is there enough space for two or three campers?" Allison referred to Iris in the bathroom with a flick of her head not taking her eyes off of the magazine she wasn't even reading.

Logan sighed, "I don't think we should bring her along. It's been dangerous enough having her with us this long." Logan glanced at the bathroom, "besides, with what we do...it's better not to make friends with people. We've got eachother and Bobby, and that's all we need." Logan than thought to himself, And that's all I have...

Allison nodded.

"That works then. Although, I think that we should at least leave her with Bobby. I'm pretty sure she already knows that we know about her. What she doesn't know is what we are about and what we do. However, we can't just leave her out on the streets again. It's your choice."

With that, Allison threw the magazine along with the others back into her bag and jumped off the bed. She knocked on the bathroom door. "Hey, you should get some sleep after this. Do you want my bed or the couch?"

Inside the bathroom, Iris faced herself in the mirror, focusing mostly on the vibrant green eyes that had been her definition since waking in the forest. The reason behind the name she went by now, and not for the first time, she felt a flame of anger shoot up through her stomach. I blame you. She thought as she glared into emerald eyes that were the source of her headaches, gift, and loneliness.

Reaching out to turn on the water, she knew that sooner or later, probably sooner, she would have to leave by their choice, if they knew. Reese hadn't told her a lot about where she had come from, or how she had become what she was, but he did tell her that she wasn't normal. That people might harm her if they knew her secret. And now, Ally knew.

She closed her eyes against the tears that threatened to spill over. Proof of whatever it was that fed her flame. In a way, she was grateful. Maybe they would have her leave before she ended up attached.

Lifting the toothbrush to her mouth, she began brushing, unsure of what her next move should be.

The knock came as a shock to Iris, and she jumped, the toothbrush still between her teeth. Quickly, she rinsed out her mouth, calling out an answer. "Either?"

Allison knocked on the door again. She didn't receive and answer the first time. When there still wasn't an answer she figured something was wrong. It didn't take that long to brush your teeth. She cracked the door open a bit.

"Hey..."

Allison stared shocked a bit. Was Iris about to cry?

"Hey...are you alright?" she repeated.

Logan stared at the ceiling. His mind was racing. It had been 3 months since hsi dad first went missing. 3 months since Logan convinced Ally to pick up hunting again. Ally had left Logan and their dad when she turned 18, to go off to college, and lead a normal life. Logan dragged her back into the hunting buisness when their dad went missing. That's when they found dad's journal after he sent them coordinates from an unknown address. Logan knew that his dad was on the trail of this demon that killed mom, and Logan hoped that his dad would come to them when He knew where to find it.

Iris blinked, a bit shocked when the door opened. She realized she must
not have been speaking loud enough. Lifting her hand, she quickly wiped
away the remaining moisture that coated her emerald eyes. "Yes." she
answered, turning her eyes away from her reflection and to the sink,
still running with water. "I'll take the couch."

Now, Iris found it nearly impossible to smile at Ally. Things had changed in that one instant, the moment when she had tried testing her. It formed a small knot in her stomach. Had she been paying closer attention, she would have realized what was going on the moment she dropped the plate.

Before turning, she set the toothbrush beside the sink and turned the knob left, stopping the flow of water. Then on her heel, she turned to face her, her expression neutral. The only indication of stress or anxiety was in the way she bit her lip, almost as if in deep thought over some tragedy.

*Sorry, my mom was cutting my hair*

"Hey, wait a moment." Allison shut the door of the bathroom before she could get out. "Let's talk about this." Allison gave her a look to show Iris what it was exactly that she wanted to talk about. "If you don't want to play games, I won't play them either. We can just pretend nothing happened. However, I don't like tugging around extra luggage that just holds me down. What are you upset about?!"

Her eyes shifted from the now closed door, to Ally's face. She didnt want to fight with the girl. An argument wouldnt solve a thing. Yet, she didnt particularly like being cornered either. It made her feel too vulnerable. It was a struggle to keep her nerves calm. "Im fine." she said, her eyes on the floor and her arms crossed almost defensively. It would do no good. If this girl wanted to attack her, physically, Iris was nothing more than a sitting duck.

Allison hated the word "fine." It was always anything but that. And if that was the only answer she was going to get then she was just going to pretend she never heard it. "I'm sorry, I didn't catch that. What's wrong?" Allison stood in front of the bathroom door like a barrier with her arms folded. It was one thing when you were dealing with a dangerous person and trying to confront them about their secret, it was another when you were with someone who could just as well be a friend or a sister and they were upset. She knew she probably didn't sound it, but Allison was doing her best to be sincere. Of course, she hoped to find out a bit more about the girl in the process.

Logan watched Ally close the bathroom door behind herself. "What the hell is going on?" Logan asked himself. Logan walked over to the bathroom door and leaned against the wall directly opposite of the bathroom door.

Closing her eyes, Iris took in a deep breath. She had no answer that wouldnt take hours of explanation, and in the claustrophobic bathroom, she had no desire to dive into that.

"Allison," she said, speaking the girls name out loud for the first time, "Its nothing you can fix, so please..." she let the sentence trail off, unsure of what exactly she wanted. Maybe just peace. Peace she would never find inside herself. With a settling feeling of reluctant acceptance, she knew she would more than likely never have the chance to look for it anywhere else. "I'm fine." she repeated.

"Fine then." Allison moved out of the way of the bathroom door with her decision already in mind. Iris could stay with their Uncle Bobby. Maybe he could figure something out from her, but since Iris already knew a bit about them even Allison hadn't revealed anything, it would be unwise to just let her go. She walked back out of the bathroom after she had brushed her own teeth and settled back down on the bed. "Get some sleep Iris, you are getting up early in the morning."

"Nice to see you two getting along," Logan whispered as Ally walked past him. Logan walked over to grab is leather jacket and his keys. "Hey sis, I'm gonna go make sure our luggage is still in the car." Logan was referring to the secret compartment in the trunk of his car, that held every supernatural fighting weapon you could think of. Logan opened and closed the motel door behind him.
